After hearing about the potential benefits of using nasal strips to improve breathing at night, I decided to give it a try. Curiosity led me to Walgreens, where I picked up a pack of Breathe Right Extra Strength Clear nasal strips. The promise of improved airflow and better breathing sounded appealing, especially for those nights when a little extra help might make a big difference.

Upon opening the pack, I faced a minor challenge — the ends of the nasal strips seemed a bit loose, making it a tad tricky to stick them securely. After a bit of research, I discovered that oily skin might be the culprit behind this issue. I wasn’t ready to give up on the potential benefits of nasal strips just yet.

To tackle the oily skin challenge, I decided to try a common fix. I ordered the Amazon generic version of Sea Breeze Astringent, a product known for its oil-controlling properties. Using a rolled up tissue, I applied the astringent to my nasal area before applying the nasal strip.

I’m happy to say, the astringent solution worked! The nasal strips adhered more securely, providing the support needed for better nasal breathing. It’s essential to note that the improvement I felt might be a potential placebo effect. Nevertheless, the sensation of easier breathing felt good.

PS: even with the benefits, I’m reluctant to buy more. The nasal strips aren’t easy to apply because they need to be stuck to an exact location in order to work. My skin is also oilier than most (thanks to lower food blockage), so astringent is a strict requirement.
