This long weekend, Dad and I watched a helluva lot of movies.
Friday evening, we watched TÁR (2022). My biggest question after finishing the film was: “is this based on a true story?”. I’d never heard of a conductor or composer named Lydia Tar, but the movie was structured convincingly enough that I had to check afterwards. (It is a work of fiction.)
Saturday afternoon, we watched Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). Dad was the one who suggested it, after seeing it was no longer going to be free on Amazon Prime Video the next day. The over-the-top acting + facial expressions from Jim Carrey did not play well with him. In the evening, we scrapped our plan to watch Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) as well and watched Strange World (2022) instead.
On Sunday, we watched Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022). What really got to me about that movie (which was rock solid) were its random cameos. Some of them don’t really fit in (*cough* cello *cough*), but they are still fun. On Monday, we ended our streak with a re-watch of Superbad (2007).
PS: despite watching so many episodes of Friends, did not realize that Courteney Cox (aka Monica Geller) was in Ace Ventura until afterwards
