Tuesday evening, my Samsung S27H650 monitor refused to display anything. All the cables seemed to be properly connected and the monitor appeared in my MacBook display settings, but nothing showed up on screen.
Before long, I began suspecting that the JideTech connector switch was the villain. Even though I no longer use the switch, I kept my old wiring setup for convenience. With my dad’s help, I re-routed all the cables and removed the JideTech. During the re-cabling, I also removed a bunch of unused gadgets (i.e. Logitech webcam, Creative speakers).
Moving everything around took a fair amount of effort, but initial tests were a success. With the Samsung directly connected to my USB-C hub, images began to show again. Without the extra tech gadgets, my desk felt a lot bigger and cleaner.
Come to think of it, the JideTech may be the cause of all those random 2-second blackouts I’ve been experiencing with the S27H650. They occur infrequently enough that my work is unaffected, but it would be great if they were gone.
