During my Peak PT visit last Tuesday, my physical therapist Kelly informed me that there have been no improvements in my shoulder range of motion for over a month. According to her, enough time has passed since my surgeries (6.5 years for my right, 4 for my left) that my body has settled and is resistant to further change.

With that in mind, Kelly recommended that I stop my weekly visits and continue to do strengthening on my own at home. I could see where she was coming from, but I was against a total halt. When it comes to health issues, professional guidance every now and then is much appreciated (in case something scary suddenly shows up). Kelly was understanding and together we agreed to reduce my visits to once a month for now.

June 14th was the day of my first physical therapy session, so I’ve been seeing Kelly for exactly four months. The visits have been useful in guiding me in the right direction, especially when it comes to neck posture. Anyhow, it’s daunting, but I think I’m ready to take it on my own. To start, I went ahead and bought the over-the-door pulley system (“Lifeline Multi-Use Shoulder Pulley Deluxe”) needed to flesh out my home gym.

Come to think of it, having my physical therapy visits come to an end is convenient. That way, I don’t have to worry about scheduling visits that play well with my work schedule when I return to the Google office (aka something that’s supposed to happen soon). It also saves me a fair amount of money, allowing me to binge on cool new toys (or expensive boba) without feeling guilty.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
