My only Amazon Prime Day purchase was a pair of 577 New Balance sneakers. Going with my Skechers measurements, I went for 8-wide. Unfortunately the popular adage that shoe sizes vary a lot between companies is true. The New Balance 8-wide sure felt tight on the toes.

Not long after ordering, my mom found a $36 deal for white Skechers Men’s Vigor 2.0 Serpentine sneakers. To save money, I went for the deal.

Funny enough, I bought a pair of the exact same shoes in August 2022 for the exact same purpose (aka Tzu Chi events). Near the end of their lifecycle, those shoes made my legs feel super sore so I was wary about purchasing them again.

When I retired them (see blog post 2/4/23), I wanted to blame the size of the shoe. Looking back, they could’ve simply been too worn. I broke my rules and wore them a lot outside of Tzu Chi. By the time they were too painful to wear, 5.5 months had passed. The 500 miles rule-of-thumb must have been greatly surpassed.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
