The green resistance band I was given by my physical therapist started wearing apart in August. For months, I used tape to hold it together, but last week I decided enough was enough. The green band is from BodySport, which sells its bands in 50 yard rolls. Since I could not buy them individually, I had to look for other options. On October 17th, I placed an Amazon order for Techstone resistance bands.

The Techstone arrived on Friday, October the 22nd. At $6.98 for a set of five, they seemed like a steal. (For comparison, Peak Physical Therapy sells individual resistance bands for $4 a piece.) Unfortunately, their length of 300mm (aka ~11.8in) turned out to be too short for the exercises needed.

With some modifications, the Techstone bands could be adapted, but those solutions were hacky and uncomfortable. That very same Friday, I placed an order for Renranring resistance bands. These longer bands are 6.5ft long. At $5.79 per band, they are much more expensive, but I’m satisfied with my purchase. The bands are solidly built and are a good replacement for the BodySport.

Anyway, here’s a list of which band I’ve decided to use for each exercise:

  • Rows resistance band = BodySport purple
  • Shoulder extension pull down = Renranring yellow (“light”)
  • External rotation w/band = TheraBand green
  • Internal rotation w/band = Black Mountain yellow tube
  • Bilateral band stretch = Renranring red band (“medium”)
  • W-pull = TheraBand green
