Just the other day, Burger King sent a big page of coupons in the mail. Before my parents could make their move, I snagged it and stashed it. (The Curry Pizza House coupon my dad preemptively recycled two weeks ago could’ve saved $14.40.) But are these actually a good deal?
The answer is maybe. The coupon offers a Big Whopper + large drink + large fries for $6.99. The McDonald’s equivalent, a Big Mac combo meal, cost $10.29. That’s almost 50% more, but there are other factors to consider.
Being able to find deals from Ronald McDonald is as easy as pie. On Monday, I got a big Spicy Chicken Deluxe combo (also with large fries) for $7.39.
There’s also location. According to Google Maps, BK is 1.7mi away while McD is 1.0mi from home. For a man of my physical capabilities, 1.7mi x2 is a bit far. The fact that I have to cross the bustling Lawrence Expressway makes it even less appealing. There IS a near direct bus route to Burger King’s, but the round trip fare evens out the savings.
Anyhow, even with all my complaints, change is nice once in a while. BK, BK, please don’t fray, TK’s (Apple) Pay is coming your way!
