You know the feeling of anxiety and restlessness that occurs when waiting for a much desired package to arrive in the mail? Thanks to Apria Healthcare, I suffered an extremely bad case of waiting this October.

In the middle of September, my ResMed N30i mask cushions started coming loose in the early morning hours, making it harder to breathe. This was never a problem when I was on the DreamWear FFM. On September 20, I called Apria Healthcare to switch my 3-month refill order to DreamWear from ResMed. Things went through smoothly and I was told that my new DreamWear would arrive on October 2nd.

Nothing came that day. When I called Apria, they told me that the person had made a mistake; my refill order was actually scheduled to ship out on the 12th. Two boxes arrived, one on the 9th (containing tubing parts that seemed unrelated to my CPAP setup) and one on the 12th (with the DreamWear cushions but not the frame or the headgear).

I decided to wait a few days. Eventually impatience took over; I called Apria again on the 18th. During that call, I learned that no more orders were coming. I explained what I had received and was told the October 9th order was a mistake. They promised to ship out the correct order (aka DreamWear FFM with medium cushion and large frame) with an ETA of October 31st at the latest.

While walking to Trader Joe’s on October 28th, I decided to dial Apria support to check up on the status once more. That turned out to be the right call (pun intended). The replacement order placed on October 18th was taking super long because of the large frame. I was told to expect an ETA of another 4–6 weeks.

By then, I had enough. As soon as I got home, I went on Amazon and placed orders for a large DreamWear frame + headgear. Buying these items out of pocket cost me ~$24, but being able to finally have a definite arrival time (aka today by 10pm) felt damn good.
