Happy Halloween!
Over breakfast, Mom proudly showed the family a recall of Vital Proteins collagen powder from Costco. With a smug expression on her face, she said “told you they were bad.” Dad, who is highly against protein powder, sneered at me with a big grin upon hearing the news.
I was willing to give up collagen powder, but I wanted to make sure all the facts were straight. Googling around, I discovered that the recall was for products sold during a single week mid-April. During the Vital Proteins manufacturing process for that lot, parts of a broken plastic lid might have slid into the powder.
All in all, I was unaffected. The states where the polluted collagen powders were shipped were mainly on the East Coast; California was not included. Not to mention, we bought our supply of powders in December 2022.
Mom and pop were civil enough to admit defeat when I told them my findings. However, a big discussion is still looming. Once our current supply of collagen powder (aka ~2.5 more jugs) runs out, the Kangs will have to come to an agreement on whether to buy more.
