Drinking soda first thing in the morning might have negative effects. Not sure why, but Mountain Dew made my chest water levels rise substantially when I drank it on Monday, October 3rd and I spent the next few hours urinating nonstop. Something similar happened on September 28th; in fact, the high chest water levels may have been why I suffered a rare morning CPS seizure that day.

This was surprising because I’ve drank plenty of early soft drinks over the years; back when we were in the office, Coke or Mountain Dew was my primary source of morning caffeine. (I would’ve preferred the Ito En Oi Ocha or even the bottled Starbucks Frappuccino, but those drinks usually were all gone by the time I arrived.)

Anyway, one big difference about the two times mentioned is that I had the soda on an empty stomach. Still, I can’t say what exactly about soda that causes these effects.

It could be the carbonation or maybe the caffeine. Perhaps I was simply drinking too fast. To be fair, the Mountain Dew may not be directly responsible. On both those days, my throat might have been blocked from before; the fluid could’ve just rehydrated the existing dry cakes. Nonetheless, going forward I’ll be careful about drinking soft drinks on an empty stomach. As the saying goes, better safe than sorry.
