On Halloween, I had very poor sleep. Contrary to what you might think, this was not due to scary T-rexes / Squid soldiers / Baby Yodas ringing the bell at off hours of the night. In fact, our house did not have a single trick-or-treater stop by this year. It was more likely caused by my digestion problems that started on Friday.

That day, I was feeling especially tired so I went to sleep at 9pm. I was so tired that I forgot to take my Keppra pills; thankfully I caught myself after my first awakening at 10:30pm.

The entire night I was plagued with a cold chest and warm thighs. That combination made it hard to get any rest. I woke up several times with my heart pounding fast. (ResMed myAir shows a total of 8 mask on / off’s. Apple Watch shows a BPM high of 80.) It felt like I almost had a grand mal seizure many of those times, but following the blood flow walking advice worked; I was able to get through the night unharmed.

Interestingly, myAir showed good results for sleep apnea events: 1.1 AHI. At times it felt like I wasn’t getting enough air (my SpO2 low that night was 90%), but I don’t blame my CPAP equipment; if I had to fault something, I would blame my tight throat filled with mucus and weak blood flow.

Anyway, to prevent future occurrences I’ll have to watch what I eat. These next few days I’m going to be extra strict with the FODMAP diet. I’m also going to finish eating by 4pm, allowing more time for my stomach to digest. Once my body has healed (aka when I’m no longer so full of shit), I’ll relax my grip on my foods.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
