It’s been thirteen days since I started taking 10mg of desipramine at night. At first glance, the antidepressant meant to calm the nerves in my esophagus hasn’t helped all that much. I continue to regurgitate after meals. To be fair, it does seem to help with swallowing; on several days lately, I managed to eat a TON of food (aka much more than I usually can handle).

Undesired side effects are mostly nonexistent. When it comes to tiredness, desipramine doesn’t affect me during the day. It does make me a little sleepy right after taking it so I’ve moved my evening pill schedule from 8:45pm to 9:30pm. Mood swings are unheard of; sunlight intolerance is not an issue. I have suffered some slightly strange thoughts lately, but desipramine is probably not to blame.

As for next steps, I’m going to continue taking 10mg each night while more strictly regulating my food intake. Recently, I’ve simply been eating too much, too carelessly. (One morning I ate 1200cal and then had a big lunch of pizza and pasta at Tomatina.) All that excess food intake could be mitigating the effects of the desipramine; hopefully eating in a more controlled manner will allow noticeable results to show.

PS: Dr Cheng has talked about increasing to 20mg per night, but I’ll wait until she directly tells me to do so.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
