This November, the monthly Tzu Chi high school gathering was solely focused on food. I didn’t have to teach any computer science, but I still tagged along to help with A/V equipment and what not.
Check-in for the 11/13 Tzu Chi Iron Chef 2022 officially began at 8:00am. This is a yearly competition where eight groups of high schoolers give presentations related to certain in-need countries (Burma / Myanmar, Mexico, Indonesia, etc.). Each group also cooks a dish related to their country to vie for the tastebuds of eight pairs of judges.
Things were slightly messy at times (the Logitech clicker had trouble from the stage, students would speak in different volumes, many Google Slides presentations + videos were named and placed in folders inconsistently), but overall everything was alright. Besides hitting the space bar whenever “next slide” was mentioned, there was not much to be done; next week’s Tzu Chi charity concert should be far more challenging.
