On Thursday I overdosed on caffeine. Before my morning run, I allowed myself a 12oz can of Red Bull. (The original plan was to grab a 8.4oz, but the bigger can was only $0.50 more.) Later in the afternoon while running an errand for Mom (aka buying No Boil Noodles from Trader Joe’s), I allowed myself a bottle of GT’S Mushroom Elixir.
I was under the false impression that Mushroom Elixir had low caffeine levels like GT’S kombucha. When I checked, the label on the 16oz glass bottle showed 75mg. By then, I was nearly done so there was no turning back.
112mg + 75mg = 187mg. That day I did feel more focused and awake. I completed all my work tasks and got in plenty of exercise. By the end of the day, Apple Health showed 20,000+ steps and 900+ calories burnt. The extra energy probably helped more than usual since that day I was dealing with unusual amounts of neck soreness. (Unsure, but probably the cause of upper food blockage.)
At 9:45pm I was able to go to bed no problem, but going forward I won’t repeat this mistake. Each day forward I will aim for 75mg max from coffee or tea.
