When my dad mentioned that he had a dentist appointment last Tuesday, I joked by offering to come along for some Costco shopping afterwards. (His dentist’s office is located right behind the big warehouse chain in Sunnyvale.) Imagine my surprise when he actually took me up on my offer. He went as far as to message me on LINE and pick me up from Walgreens (aka where I was on my afternoon walk) before leaving.

During his 25-minute dental visit, I waited in the car and listened to Dune Messiah. The Costco visit itself was centered mostly around food. We picked up many bottles of soda water and lots of fruits. (Now that Chris is back in the house, soda water gets consumed crazy fast.) The two food items I chose for myself were Cheerios and Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides.

I was thinking about trying out rice cereal next (i.e. Rice Chex or Rice Krispies), but the price cut of the Cheerios (20.35oz x 2 for $6.99) convinced me to put that idea temporarily on hold.

The Vital Proteins were bought as a replacement for my keto collagen powder. Even though I have stopped the keto diet, I’ve still been drinking my collagen powder from time to time. The fact that it acts like a cup of hot chocolate makes it very enjoyable on a chilly autumn day.

What’s most notable about this collagen powder is that it lacks MCT oil (my old container had 5g per serving). Research shows that it is okay to consume MCT oil even when eating high carbs, but I decided to play it safe. Besides, if I ever feel the need to start MCT again, manually adding the oil into my drinks should be easy peasy.

PS: big thanks to my dad for going through so much additional trouble for his son. And best of luck with his tooth aches!
