Just like that, it’s Black Friday! Here are my thoughts on three purchases made during the week of the Turkey:

Women’s Jeans. Gloria Vanderbilt women’s jeans were on sale at Amazon for $8.99 (aka 74% off) and my mom bought a pair. Weird as it sounds, she let me try it on first. To our delight, it fit perfectly. The styling of the jeans is discreet enough that it’s hard to tell that it’s meant primarily for females so I decided to try them out in public on Tuesday.

My main complaints from that trial run are that the side pockets are too shallow (my iPhone juts out slightly) and that the zipper is too short (I have to unbutton the top as well if I want to urinate standing). Nevertheless, the jeans were comfortable enough that I opened my wallet and bought two more pairs for myself.

Brushmo. Costco was having a sale on Philips Sonicare toothbrush heads. The deal was $39.99 for a 6-pack. I’m almost out of Sonicare heads, so I decided to go for it. Before buying, I checked on Amazon to see if $40 was truly a bargain. Amazon’s price for a 3-pack was $25. $25 x 2 = $50, so it was…but only for Philips branded heads.

I noticed that a company named Brushmo offered an 8-pack of Sonicare compatible heads for $17.95. Some people might discourage buying cheap knockoffs, but the 17,702 reviews and 4.5 star rating of the Brushmo heads convinced me that they were the real deal. The 8-pack I bought arrived on Monday. All in all, there’s not much to say, other than that they work as intended and are a solid replacement.

Sleep, Wake and Be Healthy. This bundle costs $8 and contains three apps by Tantsissa: HeartWatch, AutoSleep, and AutoWake. I bought the bundle primarily for HeartWatch’s ability to stream your heart rate from your Apple Watch to your iPhone. The streaming feature was hard to find at first, but it works. Furthermore, the iPhone screen doesn’t auto-lock while streaming and battery usage isn’t too high.

As for the other apps, AutoSleep works nicely. A lot of the data is already shown by the default Sleep app, but the way it arranges the info makes it easier to read. I was able to clearly see differences on my nights with poor breathing. AutoWake is the lowest rated of the three. The alarm didn’t go off on the day I tried it and I didn’t give it a second chance; immediately, I turned it off and went back to the built-in Apple alarm.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
