DreamWear FFM 2021, Part 1:

The switch back to the DreamWear FFM from the ResMed n30i was done on October 28th. The two masks are surprisingly similar in design. Both rely on a nasal pillow to conduct air flow. The biggest difference is that the DreamWear FFM covers the mouth while the ResMed does not.

Anyway, the DreamWear is significantly louder than the ResMed. These last few nights, I found it hard to sleep without earplugs. To be fair, mask air leakage could be causing the loud noise and squealing; myAir has deducted a fair amount of points from my sleep score because of that. Once it’s readjusted properly, noise could be less of an issue.

It is bulkier, but due to the magnetic straps, the DreamWear is still easy to take on and off. It also plays nicely with my existing sleep gear (aka silk eye mask, ResMed chin strap, ComfortFit Curved pillow).

My old settings IPAP 10 / EPAP 7 / PS 3.0 were too strong so I have been honing the clinical settings. As of today, I have not yet found the perfect numbers. The number of hypopnea events reported through myAir continues to be low (<1.5 AHI each night). Overall, the switch was successful. However, I’m not completely happy with the results.
