A few weeks ago, Tony linked an article in our Google group chat about a new boba shop in Santa Clara started by the wife of an Amazon software engineer. What makes Boba Pup unique is that it’s centered around Welsh corgis. Instead of providing a plastic cup, the shop requires all customers to buy a $1.50 reusable glass jar garnished with collectible corgi stickers to hold their pearls.

Even more than myself, Tony is big dog lover. The two of us managed to convince our friends Eric and Sean to give Boba Pup a try last Sunday. Since we had to buy the jar, the price tag for each of our drinks was around $8.

The drinks came out quickly. The glass jars made the portions fairly large, but there’s not much else to mention. I got a brown sugar latte with tapioca balls, which I sipped slowly as we walked Earli (aka Tony’s 2-year-old Shiba Inu) around Central Park. Overall, I would rate it a B. My friends seemed to enjoy their drinks much more than me; when asked, they responded enthusiastically about returning in the future.

One thing that disappointed everyone was the special Demon Slayer promotion. The weekend we went, the glass jars were decorated with stickers from the hit anime instead of canines. Boba Pup’s policy is that the stickers are assigned randomly so we unfortunately had to miss out on the cute corgis.

PS: my mom liked my Demon Slayer jar enough that she took it over almost as soon as I got home; currently it is resting on the kitchen counter, fermenting bread dough.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
