I’m glad to announce that my VTA Clipper card issues have been resolved. The physical copy of the card itself arrived on Friday the 1st. However, I did not test it until Friday the 8th.
I waited so long because the method I used to determine whether the transfer of funds was complete was flawed. The transfer started on November 30th and was supposed to take 3–5 business days. My assumption was that once the transfer finished, the old card would show $0 cash in Apple Wallet.
On Friday the 8th, Apple Wallet still showed funds in the old Clipper card. Nonetheless, I was tired of waiting so I decided to test out the new. At 10:20am, I rode bus 56 to Westgate Saratoga. The new card worked without a hitch and showed the transferred funds.
At Westgate, I window shopped around the mall for a bit. During lunch (aka chow fun + orange chicken + eggplant from King Eggroll), I went through the process of adding my new card to Apple Wallet and removing the old. The process was way easier than expected and didn’t require much more than laying the iPhone on top the Clipper card for a minute.
The ride home at 12:27pm proved that the Apple Wallet transfer had succeeded flawlessly. Funny thing, I was happy enough that my bus pass troubles were over and done with that I agreed to bus out to Whole Foods to help my mom return Amazon packages less than 10min after stepping through the back door.
