Last visit, I had Mr PT verify answers to several questions. The first was whether lowering the computer monitor was truly helpful for my neck. The answer was “probably”. However, I was warned that a lowered screen could cause me to lean forward, nullifying the benefits altogether. (To prevent the habit of leaning forward, I was advised to make the font on my screen larger.)
The next question was where I should keep my keyboard (on the desk vs on the tray) and whether a keyboard wrist rest was needed. Mr PT was less clear on the keyboard. I was basically advised to test out what feels right.
The final question was in regards to where to put pressure on my feet when walking. Brother Chris claims that putting all the pressure in the middle of the feet at once is the way to go. (He also claims that my failure to do so is part of the reason why I wear out my shoes so quickly.) Mr PT does not agree. According to him, I should hit the outside heel first and then shift my weight diagonally towards the inner toe during each step.
Speaking of health-related issues, I’ve found that the Sagino cotton pillow allows for longer periods of uninterrupted sleep. Instead of waking up at 3am / 4am, I tend to wake up at 6am on the nights I start with it. However, the Sagino provides no neck support, making me reluctant to switch to it completely. For now, I will continue to start the night with the Sagino cervical foam pillow and switch over to the cotton when things become too uncomfortable.
PS: the AllSett neck roll by itself is another option I’m considering again.
