On Sunday, I realized that Hoopla from the San Jose Public Library solves the issue of data usage when walking or jogging because it allows you to download borrowed music to your phone. Music truly makes exercise a lot more fun; since our Verizon family data plan is limited, I was seriously considering Spotify or YouTube Music just for the caching.

Hoopla is not without its faults. It’s true that you can only borrow 10 titles a month; it’s also true that an Apple Watch standalone app for Hoopla is nowhere to be found. Nevertheless, 10 music albums should be more than enough, especially since I run on the elliptical (aka an exercise routine with access to home Wi-Fi) every other day.

Carrying the iPhone while running is also not ideal, but it’s something I’m willing to put up with if it allows me to play music. If it becomes too much of a hassle, I’ll splurge on one of those shoulder strap armbands.

Anyhow, I tested out Hoopla music by strolling down De Anza Boulevard while blasting the soundtrack of Hamilton. Safe to say, it was an awesome experience that really lifted up my Monday afternoon.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
