Two days ago, we cruised over to my Aunt Pat Wang’s new 2-story condo in Campbell to help assemble her IKEA slide-out bed. We arrived at 1:40pm and parked in the guest garage where Aunt Wang came to unlock the door and greet us.
Perhaps due to a lack of furniture, the 3-room 2.5-bath condo looked extra roomy. IMO it is definitely big enough to house a family with two kids. Nearby schools aren’t rated that high, but I’m sure gentrification will cause that to change. (Campbell seems to be one of the trendiest places for young software engineers like me.) All in all, I liked what I saw; if the opportunity arises, I’d definitely be down to invest my savings in a similar home.
Anyhow, the assembly of the bed was done by my dad alone and took roughly three hours. My mom spent that time sipping on tea (“Trader Joe’s Organic Peppermint Herbal”) while chatting with Aunt Wang about all sorts of topics.
I joined in their talks occasionally, but spent most of my time doing other things (e.g. playing Flipflop Solitaire on my iPhone, doing physical therapy stretches, chatting with my gamer friends on Discord). I brought along my Jabra earbuds with the thought of listening to Children of Dune, but I didn’t end up using them at all. Come to think of it, it would’ve been a good time to play Pokemon Shield.
For our efforts, we were rewarded with a box of croissants and kouign-amann from Manresa Bread and an Apple-branded Hydro-Flask water bottle. Aunt Wang also promised me a pair of free Apple AirPods for the office. For me, it was a little boring at times, but it was still a nice + lazy way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
