Upon its arrival, Dad was excited enough to drop his busy work (aka the rush when end-of-the-year deadlines are approaching) to help assemble the Concept2. Luckily, it was easy to build. Screw in 8 different spots, move things around a bit and you’re done.
Storing it in the living room is not too bad, but means more setup before workout. The Concept2 breaks up into two pieces, both of which are stored vertically. These pieces are by no means light (think ~30lb each); putting them into place and connecting them is a mini workout in itself.
The Thursday when it first came, my shoulders were in a particularly bad state, but I allowed myself a minute or two of rowing. As sayings go, curiosity killed the cat, but that was not the case that night. So far everything feels fine, but I am well aware that I need to be careful.
As for other family members, my brother and my mother looked completely nonplussed about our fancy new exercise toy. Dad and I managed to get Chris to jump on for about 10 seconds; it was impossible to get Mom to even budge from her chair and take a look. (For comparison, Mom regularly had 1-hour workout sessions on our Precor elliptical.)
Buying another elliptical or an exercise bike would’ve been a safer choice, but we decided to go more wild. Whether it satisfies our needs, we’ll have to wait and see.
PS: Chris may be more interested that he chooses to show. Found the machine all set up in the living room upon returning home from Hmart on Tuesday. When I asked Dad why he chose to use high resistance 8, he claimed it was my brother who had been using the Concept2.
