My mom looked excited when I informed her the Burger King replacement (“Pho Banh Mi”) on De Anza had finally opened. That is, until she saw the prices for the Palo Alto location on Yelp. Being a little behind the times, $20 per meal is too high for her. She and my dad reneged on their promise to grab lunch together.

I begged and pleaded to no avail; Friday morning, I ended up walking to Pho Banh Mi on my own and ordering a bowl of the #3 Special Pho (aka rice noodle, steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, fatty brisket, meatballs).

Just as I was getting settled in, I noticed a girl staring at me. Turns out, it was the wife Sandra of my high school friend JueYan. We greeted each other joyously and I joined their table.

It has been nearly six years since I had any interactions with the two, so there was a lot of catching up to do. Overall, it was a great lunch and a nice blast from the past.

PS: as for the food, the pho was decent and came with large portions

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
