Good morning! Here are three new foods that I’ve tried recently:
Rice Chex. I bought this gluten-free cereal after reading that it was good for someone on a low FODMAP diet. Well, it turns out that it is good for everyone. Each flake is nice and crunchy. It soaks in the milk nicely without becoming too soggy. The cereal itself is also pretty healthy. A typical serving of 40g (~1.3 cups) has only 3g of sugar. It is a little high on the sodium (330mg), but that’s something I can live with.
SkinnyPop. I wanted to make sure my viewing of Matrix Resurrections was perfect, so I bought a bag of popcorn beforehand. The brand I chose off the Whole Foods shelf was SkinnyPop White Cheddar. The movie had some issues, but the popcorn was fine. I binged on half the bag before restricting myself. (Can’t let myself get too fat, you know.)
Anyhow, popcorn seems like a good snack option. Even though the kernels don’t have too many calories (aka 43 / cup), they are quickly filling. I don’t think I would be able to finish an entire 125g bag of SkinnyPop unless I tried real hard.
Chia Seeds Tea. My Mamma Chia seeds have been neglected. The other day I fished them out of the cabinet and mixed myself a drink. First I brewed a cup of ginger tea. Then, I poured chia seeds in and stirred. I let the concoction sit for about 30min before finally squeezing in some lemon juice. I have to say, the drink was excellent. The soaked chia seeds (which reminded me of mini boba pearls) made it so that I had to sip slowly, but that’s a good thing.
PS: as of December 29th of the year 2021, I am now primarily vegetarian
