I knew something was up when the cat house on Edgemoor started tidying up. First, the beer bottles and Coke cans started disappearing from the front yard. Next, the RV camper van vanished. The yard was swept clean of autumn leaves and the front yard gravel was raked smoothly.
On Friday morning’s jog, I finally realized what was going on. Out in front was a FOR SALE real estate sign.
That same Friday, I encountered the cat lady on my evening stroll back from Joyheart. We made small talk and I learned that she was moving to Washington and that the house had already been sold. (FYI, the listing price on Zillow showed $1,985,000.)
Bye bye cats of Edgemoor Way, San Jose, CA 95129. *Cue “Memory” song*. The entire neighborhood will miss you! …Okay, I lied. At least half will be glad you are gone. Grumpy older folk will be super pleased that no more felines will be playing with their succulents and eating their persimmons.
