After hearing my friend Patrick’s wife Diane speak very highly of Egghead Cafe’s “Chic Sandwich,” I ordered two on Friday: one for myself and one for my brother. I had never been to Egghead before, but I was aware it was a brunch joint, similar to Bobbi’s. Alongside the sandwiches, I also ordered a “Strawberry Matcha Latte” as dessert.
Uber Eats delivered the food pretty quickly. I was surprised to find that the Chic Sandwich was in-fact all-out fried chicken similar to what you’d find at KFC or Popeye’s. The size was huge. When it arrived, it was only half-past ten, but I dug in anyway. (The urge was too much to resist.)
The oily sandwich started falling apart near the end of the meal, but it was good nonetheless. Like my parents were sure to mention, the Chic Sandwich is quite unhealthy, especially for someone with high cholesterol like me. Nevertheless, it is tasty enough that I’ll give it a go every once in a while.
Interestingly enough, my brother Chris did not seem too enthusiastic about his own sandwich. When asked his opinion, he shrugged it off and said it was “okay.” My mom’s theory (which I think has credence) is that his enjoyment was highly dampened because his sandwich was no longer fresh out the oven; it was not until 4pm that he finally got around to eating it.
