My attention has been turned to eliminating the mucus from my throat. My Stanford sleep clinic nurse practitioner has told me a referral to a ENT (ears, nose, throat) doctor is on the way. Nevertheless, I spent a fair amount of time Googling around for answers on my own.

The various articles and snippets I read online were slightly differing, but the main takeaway is the same: stay away from milk + dairy, wheat + gluten, soy, meat + eggs, caffeine + alcohol, and histamine.

In order to follow all those restrictions, my current diet is going to have to change a lot. Many of my favorite items (strawberries, nuts, yogurt, oranges, kombucha and bananas) are going to be eliminated. None of my current breakfast options work; I’m going to have to brainstorm a new morning meal.

Anyway, starting tomorrow I’ll begin following the anti-mucus low-histamine recommendations. Having tried so many other diets, my hopes for success aren’t high, but I’m desperate enough to give it a shot. Besides, if excess mucus is really the cause of my breathing and swallowing problems, it would explain a lot.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
