Dad scored a great deal on kombucha from Costco. The 6-pack of 16oz Health-Ade bottles he bought cost $10 (9.6oz / dollar). Comparatively, the same individual Health-Ade bottles cost $3 each at Trader Joe’s (~5.33oz / dollar).

Doing the maths, the Costco deal edges out our usual purchases, the bigger 48oz GTS jugs which are $10 at Safeway (4.8oz / dollar) and were $8 at TJ’s (6oz / dollar). Side note: as of today, it looks like Trader Joe’s no longer stocks the GTS jugs.

Anyway, the deal is a limited time offer. Unfortunately, my brother Chris and I are addicted; before long, we’ll be shelling out big bucks for Chinese fermented iced tea once again.

Speaking of which, crunching the numbers made me realize that individual Health-Ade is a better deal than 48oz GTS, even when it’s not on sale. I find some of the Health-Ade flavors (*cough, “Passion Fruit + Tangerine”, cough*) too sour, but that’s not a problem when buying one-by-one.

PS: noticed that Safeway has once again raised their prices. A 20oz Mountain Dew now costs $2.79 instead of $2.49.
