I was ridiculed last Thursday when my parents saw the bananas I bought from Trader Joe’s. They hee-hawed at the small size of the fruits and loudly proclaimed that I had likely just grabbed the first six I saw. I knew they were wrong, but I kept my mouth shut.

Three days later, they had to eat their own words. Dad and I walked to Trader Joe’s together to pick up milk and eggs. While he was there, he glanced over at the banana stand and was shocked to find all the Musa on display were tiny. I cracked an awkward joke about how “size doesn’t matter” and was okay with refilling with the small, but Dad was not. We ended up walking all the way to Safeway to look for alternatives.

The bananas at Safeway were indeed much larger. Safeway recently moved to selling bananas individually instead of by weight and the pricing was close to twice as much compared to Trader Joe’s ($0.34 normal / $0.50 organic vs $0.19 normal / $0.25 organic), but the size more than made up for it.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
