From what I understand, my dad knocked over and broke my tea cup when doing the dishes on Thursday night. He blames the unfortunate accident on the invisible glass straw in the cup; Friday morning, he chided me for leaving it there (as opposed to taking it out and putting it next to all the other utensils).

Once I heard the bad news, my first instinct was to go back to my trusty old Starbucks mug. That choice was changed when my mom pointed out that it was too short for a straw. To compensate, she fished out a larger Starbucks ceramic tumbler mug hybrid for my use.

Using a bottle of Pellegrino sparkling water, I gauged the capacity of the new tumbler hybrid to be about 16oz. It IS a bit big and bulky, but I’m happy with it so far. Similar to the cup just broken, it seems to insulate the heat pretty well. Even when it is holding boiling hot fluids, I am able to grip it without additional aids. (For comparison, my old Starbucks mug needs to be wrapped in my handkerchief in order to be comfortably held.)

PS: Happy Pi Day!
