Two new computers entered the Kang family household this week.

Dad’s new Lenovo T14 Gen1 ThinkPad was purchased at 10:09am on the 9th and delivered at 1:48pm on the 14th. The deal he found proclaimed savings of $1,000 and cost him a total of $740.70 including tax.

Sad to say, that ThinkPad broke on the first day. The screen refused to turn on right after my dad installed Chrome. During his call with customer support, the screen magically worked again. The lady on the line attributed the earlier incident as a fluke, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. As of today, the screen still blacks out randomly; my dad plans on mailing it in for repairs.

My own 14” M1 MacBook Pro came at 11:58am on the 17th (aka St Patrick’s Day). Waiting for the work laptop to arrive was absolutely no fun since UPS barely gave any updates. For the longest time after shipping on the 10th, the only update was “On the Way — Horsham, PA.” It was not until the day before, that the message changed to “On the Way — San Pablo, CA.”

Unpacking and setting up my new 2021 MacBook was fast. Inside the box, EPAM provided a printed list of directions that were easy to follow. I’m probably not going to see it much, but it’s nice how the company was willing to provide such a high-end model. (It’s slick & sexy enough that I almost want to buy one of my own, but deep down I know that’s unnecessary.)

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
