On Wednesday, I suffered yet another straw accident. The time was about 1pm. I had just finished a 20min run on my elliptical and was feeling refreshed. I poured myself a big cup of kombucha (“GTS Gingerade”) and helped my mom brew a cup of oolong tea. As I was about to sit down and enjoy, I tapped the straw the wrong way and spilled my drink all over my lap.
The result caused my mom to fume in rage. Knowing I was at fault, I kept my head down and accepted the endless scolding while I helped with the cleanup. My mom dictated every step of the process, which I followed closely.
First, I took off my wet clothes and hung them outside to dry. (My brother helped by moving the kombucha soaked chair outside as well.) Then, I took a shower. Finally, I mopped the floor area over and over with Clorox wipes.
In the end, things were tidied up nicely. My dad didn’t notice anything awry when he returned from his bike ride later that day. (He only found out about the spill when my mom laughed about it in the evening.) Anyway, the incident has caused me to abandon my glass straw for now. Starting Thursday, I started using my red Starbucks coffee mug as my main cup again. (The hybrid is too big and heavy without a straw.)
