I’ve been wanting to try out the Atulya Bharat food truck for ages. On Saturday, I walked over to De Anza after watching Blacklight (aka Liam Neeson’s worst film of all time). I arrived at 5:29pm and appeared to be their first customer. For vegetarians, the cashier recommended the rajma rice combo, but I decided to go for the kadhi rice instead.
According to their menu, kadhi rice combo is a “yogurt based curry with gram flour and spices with spinach and onion fritters; served with rice & accompaniments.”
The combo did not take long to make (think <5min). The accompaniments on the side were crispy paratha slices; the rice was pointy basmati. I poured the kadhi on top of the rice and quickly dug in. For some odd reason, the plate of curry reminded of Chipotle burrito bowls. Anyhow, my tastebuds were satisfied that evening.
Including tax, the meal cost me $13.11, which is not a bad deal considering the huge portion size. Even though I found the curry enjoyable, I had trouble finishing it all. In retrospect, I should’ve gotten my order to-go.
Coming back to try their other menu items is a real possibility, but the fact that they are only open for dinner makes things harder. (I’m an unhealthy slob that overeats during the day and compensates by skimping out on dinner.)
