I really hate my feet. Those goshdarned things are unpredictable to the max and make finding the right footwear extremely difficult.
Case in point, my legs have been feeling extra tired lately. Starting March, I’ve switched over completely to my new Salomon Sense Ride 4’s; the only other shoes I use are my Merrells, which function as slippers.
I assumed the soreness was from walking / running too much. Even on days of designated rest, I often accrue over 15,000 steps. However, Thursday’s evening walk gave me new revelations. On that walk, I wore my green Salomon Odyssey Pro’s instead. The feeling was super refreshing and I was even able to take an extra loop ‘round the block.
Anyway, the likely reason for the surge in comfort is because the Odyssey Pro’s put pressure on different parts of my feet (thanks to their larger size and worn away sides). Continuing to wear the Odyssey Pro’s will end up with the same results; my legs will once again be sore as hell and another switch in shoes will be necessary.
Having to switch shoes often is not ideal, but there isn’t much else I can do. (Okay, I guess I could rest more.) In fact, my white Skechers Serpentine sneakers might deserve another chance. They felt alright when I wore them on a family outing last week and the bottoms don’t actually look so worn.
PS: a shoe store employee recently claimed my right foot was size 9, left foot was 9.5 and neither were wide. That’s a far cry from the 8.5 wide I’ve settled on as my default. Sigh.
