Oily foods may be more dangerous than I assumed. 2022 tests show that I do not have GERD acid reflux, but something similar happens in my body. A couple of hours after I eat, oil seeps back into the top of my throat. This may snag little bits of food and reintroduce blockage after I assumed everything was clear.

This oil may also be responsible for my nighttime seizures, because it prompts mucus generation. The newfound blockage and the extra mucus could be what’s making it so hard to breathe in the early morning hours.

Hot water sips + controlled regurgitation definitely do help clear the oil, but they only clean the surface. Many foods that go down easily (i.e. char siu rou or fried chicken) produce tons of oil later; this leads me to believe that the oil is coming up from deep within.

My path forward is to cut back heavily on the oil I consume. This means I have to say bye-bye to many of my favorite foods: pizza, hamburgers, curry, fried chicken, ramen. And if fats count as oils, that means even more reductions are necessary (*insert sad face*).

PS: it looks like even “good” oils (like those from salmon) might trigger this problem

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
