Curiosity caused me to try the 85C Pork Sung Half Moon. What piqued my interest every time I passed it in the shop was the fact that such a small bun packed 900cal. That’s almost the equivalent of two Big Macs (aka 550cal each).
I bought one on Wednesday and ate it for breakfast the next morning. Upon opening the wrapping, I soon realized why the 7” pastry had so many calories. I was expecting something with onions, pork sung and mayo; what I had in front of me was a sweet sponge cake with vanilla cream designed to be shared amongst a family.
I was feeling extra hungry that day so I ate the whole thing. It tasted alright, but was too filling. AFAIK none of my other family members care particularly for this type of pastry. (Chris = only likes Boroh, Dad = vegetarian, Mom = too sweet.) Eating so much fat alone is not a good idea, so it’s likely this purchase will be a one time deal.
PS: looking over the menu, 85C Bakery’s Pork Sung Bun is closer to what I was expecting
