Recently, I corrected both my parents on mistakes regarding health.

Last month, my dad bought me a bottle of Orgain Plant Protein instead of my usual Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides because it was on sale for much less. He assumed the two were the same, but upon scanning the bottle, I felt something off after seeing that one serving of the Orgain had roughly 2.5x the calories of the Vital Proteins (aka 170 vs 70).

With that in mind, my gut feeling was that it would not be a valid substitute.

It wasn’t easy finding an answer online, but eventually I found an article that confirmed my suspicions. Collagen powder and plant protein both have their own unique benefits. The two are not interchangeable. Collagen is a lighter powder that helps with supporting joints / bones; plant protein helps more with muscle strengthening instead.

As for my mom, she seemed to believe that brushing your teeth after breakfast was the right thing to do. However, brushing right after breakfast can cover your teeth with acid from foods like bread, fruit and pastries. This weakens your enamel and can hurt your teeth. Best practice is to wait at least 30min or more (the American Dental Association recommends an hour) after eating before brushing.

PS: after reading all those articles online, I have been motivated to start brushing first thing in the morning again

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
