On Sunday, I made the mistake of trying to make my Body Fortress chocolate protein drink with hot water. To start, one serving of the protein powder (~45g) filled over half my coffee cup. Pouring in hot water caused clumps to form. These clumps were hard to get rid of…and I sure tried a lot.
First, I used a spoon to try to flatten the clumps. Next, I set aside half the mix and poured more hot water on top of what remained in my cup. Finally, I moved the mix inside my blender bottle and tried shaking it up.
All of those hacky solutions helped to some extent, but not enough. Many clumps were broken down smaller, but most refused to go away completely. Furthermore, moving around the liquid so much caused many clumps to stick to the sides of the containers, making cleaning a big hassle.
In the end, I ended up slowly sipping the protein drink while carefully grinding all the clumps with my teeth. Anyhow, I’ve learned my lesson; cold water with a blender bottle works best.
PS: one gripe I had with many other protein powders (i.e. Orgain Organic) was that they did not dissolve well; perhaps using a blender bottle would rectify the issue
