As of today, I’m still trying to decide the best pillow for my 30° raised bed.

At first, my two main considerations were my Posturepedic (aka a generic cotton pillow) and my Sharper Image (aka a memory foam square). At a glance, it seemed like the Sharper Image would fit better on the raised setup. However, the Posturepedic ended up feeling more comfortable. On several of the nights using the Posturepedic, I slept nonstop until 6am.

The primary downside to the Posturepedic is that it is big. This means that shoulders rest on top of the pillow when sleeping. For normal folks, this is not a problem; due to my shoulder injuries, I have to be careful. Not long ago, my shoulders inadvertently resting on top my ComfortFit Curved pillow was why they felt weak throughout March and April. Truth be told, compared to the ComfortFit, this is less of an issue with the Posturepedic because it is not as firm.

On a couple of nights, I also tried sleeping without a pillow. That itself was comfortable, but I’m wary of sleeping with so little neck support. For the time being, I’ll switch between nights on Posturepedic and nights of no pillow, depending on my mood.

In other news, I’ve noticed a shift in sleep seizures this year. Instead of having grand mal seizures at 4am, I tend to have more CPS seizures at 10:30pm, thirty minutes after going to bed. The lessened grand mal is likely the result of my self-prescribed therapies working (aka sleeping with bed head higher, walking around in the middle of the night).

The new trend of bedtime CPS is harder to pinpoint. Who knows…it may be nothing more than fatigue at the end of the day. Or maybe it comes from the sudden rush of blood to my head when lying down.
