At 2:13pm on Wednesday, my friend EC called me asking if I wanted to hang out. He had gotten back from a 10-day Singapore trip two days prior and was thinking of swinging by Westfield Valley Fair to get some replacement lenses for his beloved Oakley Flak sunglasses.

I tried to delay the mall trip to Saturday, but EC managed to convince me to go with him the very same day. That’s pretty impressive, considering how I had already accrued ~16k steps by the time he called. Anyway, EC came to pick me up in his Volkswagen Passat at 4:15pm.

Valley Fair had a great amount of people inside, despite being a weekday. I attributed that to the fact that we are in the transition period between school year and summer classes; teenagers and college kids have plenty of free time to shop around and spend their allowance.

The trip turned out to be somewhat of a failure. EC’s Flak sunglasses model (which he bought 10 years ago) are discontinued. Neither the Oakley store nor the Sunglasses Hut had replacement lenses that would fit those Flaks, leaving EC empty-handed.

Still, we had fun walking around aimlessly while sipping on drinks from Jell+Chill. ($10 for a Lychee Rosie is damn expensive, but I allowed it as a one-time thing.) By the time we left the mall, it was close to 6:30pm. Besides the pricey Jell+Chill, both of us also bought an Uncle Tetsu cheesecake to use as a Father’s Day gift.

PS: that Wednesday I reached a whopping 26,230 steps
