On one of my recent intermittent fasts, I tried the 500cal variant again. Truth be told, the real reason I did this was because my dad presented me with a chocolate eclair at 10am. Being the greedy bastard I am, I couldn’t resist that tempting French pastry.
Anyway, I was a lot more successful. Here are the items I ate that day:
- Chocolate Eclair — 80cal
- Avocados — 60cal
- Roasted Seaweed — 30cal
- Goli gummies — 15cal
- Ricola — 15cal
- Orange — 80cal
- Salad w/Ranch — 100cal
- Potato salad — 150cal
The calorie counts are estimates and not exact, but in all likelihood, I was very close to 500. At the end of the day, there was hunger, but within a bearable extent.
500cal does have a few other benefits (i.e. allowing me to eat my CBD + vitamins in the morning), but going forward, I suppose I will continue with 24h as the default choice. Giving my tummy more time to process food feels like the right thing to do; 500cal will remain a backup option on days when I need to eat early.
On a related note, I also tested out 24h fasting from lunch instead of dinner. 12pm to 12pm was definitely easier to handle. Not to mention, that approach allows more flexibility when planning activities / hangouts. Anyhow, lunch will probably become my go-to choice for future fasts.
PS: watched the extended version of The Town (starring Ben Affleck)
