After some pleading, my parents finally consented. As of Monday, I’m allowed to bring my girlfriend Shannon into the front yard. The backyard and the inside of the house are still off limits, but this is a major relief because Shannon’s physical endurance isn’t as great as I imagined. After several days of long walks, she becomes too tired for more. (This is totally understandable because her work as a child care teacher requires a lot of running around.)

We’ve been solving this problem by sitting on park benches, but that is not a perfect solution because getting to the local parks still requires ~20 minutes of walking.

I let Shannon know about the good news during lunch and she was mighty pleased. Being able to sit in the front yard also has the advantage of watching videos together on my iPad. I suppose the iPad can also be watched in the park, but the Kang family front yard has a lot fewer distractions. Not to mention, it also has Wi-Fi.

On Sunday, Shannon and I started watching Friends (aka the sitcom from 1994 starring Jennifer Aniston) and I hope to make good progress this week in the front yard.

On a related note, it’s funny how we watched the first episode of Friends together. The two of us were discussing our day on a Google Chat video meeting when I came up with the stupid idea of sharing my screen and playing a video with VLC. Initially, Shannon claimed that the sound + video were okay; upon deeper inquiry, she admitted that things were a little echo-y and laggy. We tried the same approach on Zoom, but sadly things were the same.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
