Sunday’s morning walk was nice. My legs were sore, but I still left the house because I was curious about Happy Donuts. On the way to the pastry shop, I came across a garage sale on Chiala and picked up a Traveler’s Club duffel gym bag. (I offered to pay the owner 50c via Venmo, but he insisted I have it for free.)

I arrived at Happy Donuts around 8:15am. It was my first time inside the shop in at least ten years. Immediately, I could tell it was a local family-run business. There were two ladies conversing excitedly in Vietnamese; they paused their chatter briefly to take my order.

Eventually, I went for a blueberry fritter and a Vietnamese iced coffee. These were some of the expensive items on the menu and cost me a total of $9.75. If I had gone for the more basic items, I would’ve paid half the price, but the extra size made things worth it.

The indoor dining area was fenced off, but the patio was open. Nibbling on the fritter while relaxing in the cool morning air was great. However, compared to Safeway’s donuts there is not that much of a difference; both are good options within walking distance of Alderbrook.

PS: interestingly enough, Happy Donuts also sells rice platters (i.e. BBQ chicken or Kalua pork), but those are similar enough to my mom’s home cooking that I’m frankly disinterested.

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
