Somehow, my dad managed to bring me along on his Saturday outing with Applied Materials friends. At the time, none of the activities they had planned worked particularly well for me. However, I gave in after I heard that they had reserved a spot for me at the driving range.
We arrived at Topgolf Silicon Valley a quarter past 10 and whacked at balls for a little over an hour. This type of golfing where you spend a good amount of effort trying to hit a ball as hard as you can does not work well for my shoulders. Funny thing, despite hitting the balls much more lightly, I did not end up that many points behind; everyone present was noob.
For lunch, the Applied Materials folks settled on eating at Topgolf. I ordered a veggie burger with a side of Coke; my dad got a grilled zucchini caprese. Going in, I was still slightly bloated from breakfast and needed to reserve some room for my dinner date (aka ramen with Cheryl), so I ended with a ton of leftovers.
Finally, the group went for a hike in the Ulistac Natural Area. My thighs were still sore and I did not want to stress them. (It’s true that I managed 20k steps on Friday, but those were divided into much smaller segments.) I heavily considered asking to leave early, but stuck through after hearing the walk would be only 35min long and primarily on paved, flat surfaces.
PS: the hike on Guadalupe River Trail took over an hour, but I survived.
