I watched Black Widow at the Icon Theatre in Mountain View on Saturday, July the 10th. This latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the first movie that I watched in theaters in over a year. (IIRC, the previous was The Rise of Skywalker).

Now that the Vallco AMC 16 is permanently closed, my typical destination for movies is the Saratoga AMC 14. However, this time around Shannon and I chose the Icon Theatre because of its reclining love seats. (It’s slightly cheaper tickets also helped.)

The place looked somewhat familiar, even though I don’t remember watching any movies there in the past. When I purchased the tickets online, there were many open seats. Combined with the early showtime, I expected the theater to be rather empty during our 4pm airing. However, that was not the case. More than half the theater was full, including both the love seats next to us.

As for the film itself, it was enjoyable. Some parts of it don’t make perfect sense, but the fight sequences and explosions were well choreographed. Also, the mending of the sister relationship between Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova was sweet.

Both Shannon and my dad (who had watched it separately on his own) liked Black Widow. My dad even went as far as to claim that Black Widow was one of the better superhero movies in recent years. I would recommend it if you’re a fan of action films, but I have to say…Natasha’s father’s last name of Shostakov gave this cellist a real itch.

PS: the other movie I watched this weekend was The Boss Baby: Family Business

Hi everybody. I like food, Broadway showtunes, Pokemon and LEGOs. Oh, and I also do a bit of programming occasionally.
