Less than a week after posting praise for the Sleep Number ComfortFit Curved, I switched away. After the fifth night on the ComfortFit, I started suffering from a string of daytime CPS seizures. I can’t say for sure, but I feared that the height + angle of the ComfortFit may have put my neck in an excessively forward leaning position for long periods of time, triggering these attacks.

Anyway, the switch back to my old pillows did not go as planned. Last Wednesday, I enjoyed long, uninterrupted sleep with the Beautyrest Black, but still felt really tired throughout the day. This could be due to a very annoying bug I faced at work and other non sleep related stress factors, but the fatigue convinced me to give my Sagino a spin. Sad to say, the Sagino barely lasted the night. Simply put, it felt too high.

For now, my plan is to switch between the Beautyrest and no pillow. Believe it or not, those two options feel almost the same. Due to years of usage, the middle of the Beautyrest is depressed enough that sleeping on it is almost like going pillowless.

On nights where I feel more adventurous, the Sagino might get some testing. As for the Comfortfit, I let my mom use it. After just one night, she claimed it was too high as well. I then offered it to my dad and my brother, but neither one was interested. When asked, Dad said he prefers softer pillows, while Chris said he likes sleeping on his tummy. (The shape and hardness of ComfortFit don’t play well with stomach sleepers.)

On a pillow related note, my hands have been feeling numb when I sleep with my fingers crossed on my chest. When I asked my physical therapist Kelly why, she suggested hugging a pillow. I’ve tried this solution in the past and it does seem to work, even with bigger pillows like the Sagino. However, I was hoping for something different. After all, it is hot, hot summertime.
