Tough Blockage July 2023, Part 2:
On Thursday the 13th, I seemed to hit the jackpot. With hot water that evening, I provoked wave after wave of regurgitation. The induced regurgitation contained many leftovers stuck from before (aka a brown paste-like substance stuck to the upper throat). By the end of the day, I assumed the tough blockage had been taken care of and went to bed happy.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I had a nighttime seizure that very night. Unlike my usual seizure attacks, this one happened earlier in the night at 2am, therefore excess mucus was unlikely to be the sole culprit.
Anyway, my guess is that many things went wrong in tandem. All that hot water regurgitation may have pushed the blockage into unusual areas or opened up unwanted channels. Lying down while there was still liquid in my throat / tummy could’ve done so as well. Dried fruit easily gets stuck; eating so many Sunny Hills pineapple cakes must’ve caused blockage buildup.
Everything combined restricted my airways enough to trigger the seizure attack even before mucus could gather. And unlike the mucus-driven attacks, this one came without warning.
After the seizure attack, things did feel less blocked, though there was still some remaining. I continued to follow my usual methods. I also took Flonase before bed as a precaution. After a few days things settled.
What’s worrying about this time’s incident is that it shows hot water regurgitation may cause problems. It is definitely a helpful tool, but I have to keep that in mind for the future.
