I’ve been fretting like crazy about my new Sleep Number Contour Foam Inner Core pillow. I chose this pillow because it is lower to the ground compared to others. However, that also means it has a lack of neck support. I slept on it the entire week and my experiences are listed below.
Monday: good, felt similar to sleeping with no pillow
Tuesday: not too good, woke up early, slept on side a lot
Wednesday: tried higher side, slept okay, works with side, felt like lying in bed more in the morning
Thursday: higher side, neck felt tight in morning, tempted to use side more, raised bed a little
Other than the first night, my sleep was not that great. On many of the days, I felt super tired in the afternoon. Other factors may have come into play, but I was unhappy enough with my purchase that I decided to go for an exchange. The two Sleep Number pillows that caught my eye were the Comfortfit Curved and the True Temp Contour. The inflatable AirFit also looked interesting, but it’s price tag of $230+ put it out of consideration.
For years now, I’ve been a big fanboy of contour pillows. Recently, that enthusiasm waned after hearing my physical therapist Kelly say that they were unnecessary and after learning that they are better suited for side sleepers.
Choosing between the Comfortfit and the True Temp was rather difficult. I’m embarrassed to admit that I spent most of Thursday wracking my brains out over which one was best. In the end, I went for the Comfortfit. Sleep Number has no returns / exchanges on the second pillow so I’m stuck with this one forever. Hopefully it lives up to the plethora of positive reviews it has received online.
