Choosing a pack of Tums at Walgreens was more complicated than expected. There were so many choices, including oddly enough, peppermint flavored. (From what I recall, peppermint is one of the most common triggers of acid reflux.)

Anyway, I called back home to determine whether 750mg (aka “Extra Strength”) or 1000mg (aka “Ultra Strength”) was the right choice for the Kang family. Cringe as you may, before long my mom and I were calculating pill prices over the phone and comparing costs online.

My mom decided that a $14 330-pill Extra Strength bottle from Amazon was a better deal, so I left the store without making any purchases. The best bargain at Walgreens was 160-pill Ultra Strength for $11; doing the math, the Amazon purchase was ~17.8% cheaper.

Later, my dad noticed that the 330-pill bottle was not set to arrive until August the 24th. I shrugged it off, letting them know that I could buy a small bottle from Walgreens if we ran out before then. However, Dad did not want to dally. He shopped around Amazon and discovered an even better deal: four 160-pill Ultra Strength bottles for $16.

Sadly, that deal (aka ~63.7% cheaper than Walgreens) was too good to be true. Looking over the customer reviews, there were many complaints about how only one bottle was shipped. Furthermore, that third party seller gave no returns. Luckily, we cancelled our order in the nick of time.

Update 7/27: spoke too soon. Our order cancellation failed and the 160-pill bottle arrived in the mail. Combined with the $15 holdover bottle my dad bought from Costco (aka 265-pill Ultra Strength), we are set on Tums for a reeeeeally long time.
